An Honest Look at Female Libido

Okay ladies, I wanna have an honest conversation about our libido.

I read this stat on Instagram, so I had to go fact-check it for myself…

According to a study in The Journal of Sexual Medicine, “an additional hour of sleep per night was associated with a 14% increase in sexual frequency.”

What gets left out of the conversation about women’s sexual desire is the nervous system.

Maybe you’ve experienced this before –– When you’re feeling more stressed than usual, your mind gets really busy… And when your mind is busy, you’re often not thinking about sex or feeling very excited by your partner’s advances?

If you are being met with stressors throughout the day, it’s hard to be available for sex.

And here’s why:

If cortisol is going up in your body, then you’re in survival mode –– which means your body is like, “Why would we want to make a baby right now?”

When you’re stressed, your body isn’t open to making a baby.

This is your body’s way of keeping you safe.

Not feeling sexy and confident can have a desensitizing effect on women and reduce their sexual desires.

So it’s not that your “libido needs fixing” or that you’re “broken.”

There are blockades in the way of you receiving signals that it’s safe for sex.

I wanted to share this with you today because I feel it’s important for women to take ownership of their sexual wellness.

The more you know, the more empowered you become.

The topic of female libido is so under-studied and misunderstood.

And instead of looking for a drug to “fix” our libido, or feeling like you’re just “not that into sex.” or it’s your fault why your sex life has lost the spice…

Let’s focus on root cause healing.
